ABOUT US

Havelock North Village Kids is a long-established early learning centre supporting local families in Havelock North.

For more than 30 years, we have cared for children in a calm, nurturing environment where they can feel safe, known, and confident to be themselves. Many families come to us through word of mouth, and that trust has been built through consistent care, strong relationships, and a genuine commitment to each child’s wellbeing.

We believe every child has the right to play. Through play, children explore ideas, build confidence, develop friendships, solve problems, and make sense of the world around them. Our teachers provide open-ended resources and meaningful experiences that support each child’s learning, curiosity, and development at their own pace.

Growing
confident,
capable learners

Our goal is simple: to help children feel happy, secure, and ready to learn.

Whether they are settling into care for the first time, building independence, or preparing for the next step towards school, children are supported with kindness, patience, and care. We want every child to leave each day feeling valued, connected, and proud of what they are discovering.

What makes
us different

What makes Havelock North Village Kids different is the consistency behind
our care.

Our experienced teaching team creates a stable and familiar environment where children and whānau feel a genuine sense of belonging. We take the time to know each child as an individual, working closely with families to understand their needs, interests, culture, and stage of development.

Our approach is not about rushing children or following trends. It is about providing the right support, at the right time, in a place where children feel comfortable enough to try, learn, connect, and grow.

OUR Philosophy

Our philosophy is grounded in play, relationships, and respect.

Teachers create opportunities for both planned and spontaneous learning, guided by children’s interests and supported by thoughtful teaching practice. We encourage language, literacy, numeracy, creativity, social development, physical skills, and problem-solving through everyday experiences that feel natural and enjoyable for children.

We also place a strong focus on inclusion and belonging. Havelock North Village Kids is a safe and welcoming environment where children and their whānau are respected. Teachers meaningfully incorporate te reo Māori and tikanga Māori into the everyday life of the centre, helping children experience and enjoy our unique Aotearoa New Zealand heritage.

Our outdoor environment also plays an important role in daily learning. Children are encouraged to explore, move, investigate, care for nature, and develop an understanding of the world around them.
